The six game winning streak came to a crashing end. It was fun while it lasted but it was going to end at some point and this was not a total surprise the Dolphins lost to the Ravens today. Baltimore is a well rounded team with a QB who has a Super Bowl Championship and Super Bowl MVP on his resume.

The Dolphins offensive line was healthy and actually played well vs the #1 rated defense. Jay Ajayi had room to run and averaged over 5 yards per carry in the game. The problem for the Dolphins is the defense was bad, I mean really bad. I mean it was so bad I can’t even put it into words. The defense put the Fins into a large hole early on and forced Miami to become a strictly passing team which doesn’t play to Ryan Tannehill’s strength and put him in a less than favorable position which caused a less than favorable result from the quarterback.

The Dolphins defense has been playing well of late but let’s be honest Jarod Goff, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Colin Kaepernick aren’t exactly Unitas, Graham, and Staubach. Joe Flacco looked like the greatest quarterback to ever put on a uniform today against Miami’s defense. The linebackers couldn’t cover a tight end to save their life and the secondary didn’t play well.

I go into details and break down some plays from todays game…but what’s the point. Miami got it’s ass kicked in every way possible. During the course of a 16 game season every team has one or two games like this. Miami had theirs come against a good team, it happens folks. Now it can’t happen again but this team has won 6 of their last 7 games so we can’t be knee jerk reaction here. This team wasn’t going to run the table and win every game the rest of the year.

Going forward Miami’s defense must get it’s act together. With David Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, and Michael Floyd coming to town next week this defense will have it’s work cut out for them. Carson Palmer has had a rough season but he has weapons who can make him look great at times and if Miami’s defense plays next week like it did this week then Palmer may look like Bart Starr out there next week.

Jason Jones will be back next week and Jelani Jenkins may be back so that should help this defense. With that said this defense has a lot of soul searching to do over the course of the next 6 days. If the defense doesn’t shape up this season will unravel quickly.
