Earlier
this season as we all know our Dolphins made one of the most controversial
trades this season. They traded running back Jay Ajayi to the Philadelphia
Eagles for a 4th round draft pick. After that trade the Dolphins
plan was to split reps between Damien Williams and Kenyan Drake. Shortly after
the trade Williams suffered a season ending injury leaving the starting role to
former Alabama running back Kenyan Drake. Drake strived in the games he played
but even after that Gase decided to part ways with two year RB’s coach Danny
Barrett who was one of the main pieces in turning Jay Ajayi into a Pro Bowler
in 2016.
So now in
the offseason the Miami Dolphins are on the hunt for a running back’s coach.
The latest candidate is Former Broncos Assistant Head Coach/Running Backs Coach
Eric Studesville. Studesville has 21 years of coaching experience and is well known
around the league which is a good thing. But it looks like Studesville is
looking for bigger things as he did just recently interview for the head
coaching job with the New York Giants. But the likelihood of Studesville
getting the job is slim to none because of the possibility a bigger name and
more proven coach will land that position. Studesville hasn’t worked with very
many talented running backs in his past besides CJ Anderson but if he takes
this job in Miami he will have the opportunity to hopefully make Kenyan Drake
become a great running back.
Studesville
has worked with Adam Gase before as they were both on the staff with the
Broncos as the same time. We will hopefully know soon if Studesville will
becoming to Miami as their next running backs coach.
