First off, I think I can speak for everyone and say thank God football is finally back. Now let’s look at the leaders of this past Sunday’s game and some positives and negatives.

Ryan Tannehill went 20/28 for 230 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 2 interceptions. He also had a 8.2 average per completion with a 89.9 rating. Ryan stepped back on the field after missing the last 19 regular season games and in my opinion he came out and played very well and got the win in his return. The most exciting play from Tannehill was the 75-yard touchdown pass to Kenny Stills.

Frank Gore lead the team in rushing week 1. He had 9 rushes for 61 yards and he takes closer steps to becoming the 4th all-time rusher in NFL history. I must say Gore looked fresh while splitting time with Drake. Hey may have more left in the tank then most of us think.

Kenny Stills lead the team in receiving. He only grabbed 4 passes, but he had 106 yards and 2 touchdowns. Stills and Tannehill are looking to regain the chemistry they had before Tannehill got hurt and they took a step in the right direction in week 1. Stills hauled in a 75-yard bomb for a touchdown this week.

Kiko Alonso lead the team in tackles tallying up 6 of them. Kiko also added a interception in this game. Kiko looks to keep his high level of play up and have a great season at linebacker for the Dolphins.

Rashad Jones lead the team in two categories on the defensive side of the ball this week. He had one tackle for loss and two interceptions. His second interception I’m still not sure how he caught that. We can just refer to that interception as a “Madden” interception. Jones is probably the best player on the Dolphins defense and continues to show it every time he steps on the field.

Jason Sanders was 2/2 on field goals and 3/3 on extra points. His longest field goal was 30 yards. Sanders won the kicker job in preseason and looks to have a good rookie season for the Dolphins. Matt Haack punted the ball just four times for a average of 53.8 and his longest punt was 65 yards.

Jakeem Grant had two kickoff returns for a average of 62.5 and had one touchdown. Grant took a kickoff 102 yards from end zone to end zone. Grant showed of his speed on that kickoff return. Danny Amendola had just one punt return for two yards.

Some other positives from the game
-A win on home field is always a plus.
-Miami made history by playing in the longest game in NFL history.
-Offensive line only gave up one sack.
-Ryan Tannehill looked pretty good in the home opener.
-Kenny Stills played very well.
-Defense looked hungry.

With positives there is always negatives so here is what I didn’t like from the game
– The two interceptions hurt. First game back I know but interceptions suck.
– The defense didn’t record a single sack on either of the Titans quarterbacks.
– Special Teams gave up that huge kickoff return for a touchdown.
– Miami didn’t record a single rushing touchdown.

On to week two where we travel to MetLife stadium to take on the J-E-TS JETS, Miami looks to go 2-0 against division rival.
