Per Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald Josh Sitton has a torn rotator cuff and will need surgery. He has been placed on IR and his 2018 season is over.

Ted Larsen will replace Sitton as the starting left guard beginning this week and for the remainder of the 2018 season. The Dolphins offensive line was a big weakness in 2017 and the Dolphins are now left with having 4 starters back in place from that group that struggled for much of 2017. The only new face from last year is starting center Daniel Kilgore. Ted Larsen being forced into a starting role also weakens the depth of this Dolphins offensive line as Larsen was the primary back-up at both center and guard. With Larsen forced into the role of a starter that leaves Miami very thin now depth wise as Jake Brendal is also out with a calf injury and cannot return until after week 8 if the Dolphins decide to activate him. Travis Swanson, a journeyman offensive linemen, now becomes the primary back-up at both center and guard for the Miami Dolphins.

I would not be shocked to see the Miami Dolphins look to add an interior offensive linemen that might still be on the open market to their roster or bring up Isaac Asiata from the practice squad to the active roster.

We will get more in-depth on what this means for the Miami Dolphins offense going forward later today on the Daily Podcast.
