News is circulating this Friday night that the Miami Dolphins are set to hire New England Patriots linebackers coach (and defacto defensive coordinator) Brian Flores to be their next head coach. Miami Herald reporter Adam Beasley was the first to report Flores was the clubhouse leader and top candidate earlier this week and it appears that reporting was accurate. The Dolphins can’t officially sign Flores as their head coach until the Patriots season ends and they are out of the playoffs which could be this weekend or it could be February.

Beasley is also reporting that if the deal falls through and the Dolphins do not hire Brian Flores that the back-up plan appears to be Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen.

With the news though that Flores is most likely going to be the Dolphins head coach let’s learn a little about him. He will be 38 years old in late February and grew up in Brooklyn, NY. Brian went to college at Boston College and played Linebacker between 1999-2003. He never got a chance to play in the NFL due to injury and joined the Patriots as a scouting assistant in 2004. He has been with the Patriots ever since as a scout, special teams assistant, safeties coach, linebackers coach, and this year calling the plays for the Patriots defense as the defacto defensive coordinator.

Here are some video’s of Brian Flores to get to know him a little better.
