Joe Schad of the Palm Beach Post is reporting the Miami Dolphins Thursday signed defensive tackle/nose tackle John Jenkins to a 1-year deal. Terms of the deal were not released at the time of this article.

Jenkins spent the 2019 season as a member of the Miami Dolphins when Brian Flores was a rookie head coach for the team. After the 2019 season, he signed a 1-year deal with the Chicago Bears. In 2020 with the Bears Jenkins played in 11 games last year and spent a short amount of time on Injured Reserve in late September.

In 2019 for the Dolphins Jenkins started 5 of 16 games he played in and had 1 sack and two tackles for loss. Jenkins is known for being outstanding at stopping the run and being a defensive tackle that excels in that aspect of the game. He will fit nicely in the Miami Dolphins defensive tackle rotation along with Raekwon Davis, Adam Butler, Christian Wilkins, and Zach Seiler. And when the Dolphins line up needing a true nose tackle on the field Jenkins can fill that role as his best position is as a nose tackle in a 3-4 formation.
