Emily Smith of the NY Post is reporting that Miami Dolphins owner Stephen RossĀ and his wife Kara are divorcing after 18 years of marriage.

Per the NY Post, “Sources close to Ross insist the split is amicable. Ross, 80, is said to be worth between $7 and $8 billion, but we are told there is a pre-nuptial agreement between the couple, who married in 2003.”

Ross has owned the Miami Dolphins since February of 2008 and is also is an investor and majority stakeholder in various companies such as SoulCycle and Equinox as well as being the founder of The Related Companies one of the largest real estate companies in the United States.

The NY Post article went on to say; “The former couple confirmed their split in a joint statement to Page Six, ā€œWe have deep love and respect for each other. We will continue to be a part of each otherā€™s lives and support what is best for the health and happiness of our family.ā€ They both have two children from previous marriages.Ā

Sources say that while the pair has not yet formally filed any divorce papers, they have both hired prominent New York divorce attorneys.”

One thing that will not change is Ross’s ownership of the Miami Dolphins as the NY Post article states, “A legal source not involved in the Ross case speculated the divorce settlement Kara could win ā€œcould likely start at $100 million and go north to $200 or $300 million ā€” making this one of the most expensive divorces in New York.ā€

Another insider said that while Kara would get a sizeable settlement, Stephenā€™s ownership of the Miami Dolphins and Related Companies would not be split.” The insider said, ā€œHis business holdings will not be affected by the divorce.ā€
