With their 2nd pick in Round 1, the Miami Dolphins addressed the edge rusher position as many people expected when they selected Jaelan Phillips out of Miami. Phillips originally started his college career at UCLA but transferred to Miami. In 2020 with the Hurricanes Phillips had 8.5 sacks and 15.5 tackles for loss. In Miami, he will fill the void left by Kyle Van Noy and Shaq Lawson and helps Miami with their pass rush which does need help badly. Phillips can play both in a 3-4 or a 4-3 which is great as Miami likes to flip between both alignments. He has suffered numerous injuries in college with ankle and wrist injuries as well as concussions but Miami must have medically cleared him to feel safe selecting him here at pick 18. Phillips should be able to get on the field quickly for the Dolphins and make an immediate impact.
