In a bit of a surprising pick at 36, the Dolphins add to a loaded secondary by selecting Jevon Holland. The Dolphins (according to many experts) were ready to select RB Javonte Williams the RB out of UNC at 36 but Denver traded up to take him ahead of Miami. The Dolphins with holes at center, right tackle, and even could use another edge rusher decide to bring in another safety. This will probably end Bobby McCain’s time in Miami as his salary cap number is up there and Miami has no cap space currently to sign their draft class. Holland is considered the best safety in this draft by some. But it does seem like a luxury pick more than filling a need early in Round 2.
