It has been a busy day for the Miami Dolphins front office as they released Safety Bobby McCain on Thursday morning and late Thursday afternoon they signed veteran cornerback Jason McCourty per Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network. He signed for a 1-year deal with the Dolphins.

McCourty is a 12 year NFL veteran who started 11 of 16 games last season for the New England Patriots and had no interceptions. In his 12 year career, he has played 8 seasons with the Tennesse Titans, 1 with the Cleveland Browns, and 3 with the New England Patriots.

The Miami Dolphins are very deep at the cornerback position with Byron Jones, Xavien Howard, Noah Igbinoghene, Nik Needham, Justin Coleman, and Jamal Perry. As well as rookie Jevon Holland who is able and capable of playing some cornerback if needed.

One has to wonder if this move is to set up another move to be made in the near future. Could a cornerback be on his way out of Miami? Or maybe will McCourty be moved to safety to help replace Bobby McCain?

More on this story as it develops.
