Tuesday night was an eventful one for Dolphins fans as reports and news came out about the Dolphins and Texans agreeing on the terms of a trade to send Deshaun Watson to Miami per the Houston Chronicle. That report was walked back, and more details came out. So let’s break it all down for you.
The first report from the Houston Chronicle comes out saying the Dolphins and Texans have agreed to a trade to send Watson to Miami. The trade compensation would be three first-round picks and two other picks (that may not be second or third-rounders though). Both sides have agreed to a trade, but Dolphins owner Stephen Ross wants clarity from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on the length of any possible suspension Watson is facing. Plus the Dolphins want Watson’s legal issue cleared up before any trade is made (which would be impossible to have done by Nov 2nd. Making any trade taking place by Nov 2nd unlikely.) So the two sides have agreed to the terms of a trade but Miami does not want to pull the trigger on the trade at this time and make it official. This now leaves their current starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa in a lame-duck status.
Houston Chronicle reports Dolphins & Texans have agreed on trade terms for Watson, but Dolphins want his legal issues resolved before consummating deal (good luck with that).Chronicle suggests Ross wants clarity from Goodell on length of potential suspension (good luck with that)

Respected NFL reporter John McClain of the Houston Chronicle clarifies his latest report that nothing has changed since last week and all teams talking to Houston regarding a trade want Watson’s legal situation cleaned up.
I'm being bombarded with messages saying I've reported a Watson deal to the Dolphins has been agreed on. I haven't reported that. Nothing's changed since last week. Dolphins — and any other team Watson has approved — want the legal issues resolved. That hasn't changed.

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell releases a statement stating he cannot suspend Watson at this time or place him on the exempt list preventing him from playing because they (the NFL) does not have all of the access to the information in the Watson legal situation taking place in Houston. Therefore, Watson is free to play for Houston right now or any team that would trade for him by Nov 2nd could play him ASAP.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on #Texans QB Deshaun Watson: “We don’t have all the access to that information & pride ourselves on not interfering with it. That process is ongoing.”
Important: “We don't feel we have that necessary information to place him on the exempt list.”

And with all of this taking place in real-time fans of the Miami Dolphins got mad. Really really mad and voiced their displeasure on social media to the organization. Dolphins fans feel that this appears to be utter chaos that is making the organization look bad as well as not showing any public support to your starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa and hanging him out to dry. Many Dolphins fans are hoping the Dolphins trade Tua to another team so he has a chance of success with a better-run organization.
Request a trade immediately bro @Tua
I've legit never seen a young QB have to deal with worse circumstances than Tua. Such a dysfunctional franchise.
— Sam Golub (@samgolub3) October 27, 2021
You don’t deserve this @Tua
— Alejandro ?? (@MiamiAlejandro) October 27, 2021
I genuinely hope the Dolphins trade Tua, he ends up being a HOF player in 12-15 years, wins 2-3 Super Bowls, and the Dolphins draft the equivalent of Jon Beck once every 3 years for the next 15 years. This is what this franchise deserves. @Tua doesn’t deserve this man.

Wouldn’t it be funny as fuck if Tua requests a trade if the Watson deal falls through
— MiamiClutchPE (@MiamiClutchPE) October 27, 2021
Hope Tua wins a super bowl somewhere else tbh. It’s what this franchise deserves https://t.co/icWlVAhyk1

.@Tua request a trade bro. GTF away from that dysfunctional mess of an organization that is the @MiamiDolphins . You deserve better.
— Al (@TheFan4Life) October 27, 2021
This shit has pissed everyone off. Ever just trade for him or say the rumours are false. I hope Tua wins a superbowl to whatever team he goes to, so this shows why Flores and grier fucked up.
— Dolphinsforlife (@Darththanaton98) October 27, 2021
If I'm Tua I demand a trade from this shitty organization ?♂️ https://t.co/KX1xkLIJQS
— J Soto (@dolphin_4life) October 26, 2021
Yo @leighsteinberg get Tua out of here fam
— MiamiClutchPE (@MiamiClutchPE) October 27, 2021
If this is true I hope @Tua requests a trade, gets it, @deshaunwatson gets convicted, and the @MiamiDolphins get fucked for the next 10 years. https://t.co/mmSwZMJowf

The Watson deal cannot fall through now.
You must trade for him.
Tua has already been bruised and battered from the bullshit he has had to put up with.
Put him out of his misery and let him start somewhere new.

We are one week away from November 2nd and we will see how this story plays out. If Watson isn’t traded to Miami by Nov 2nd and is still on the Houston Roster this story is not going away. It just starts a new chapter of “if Miami will trade for Tua in the offseason.”
DolphinsTalk Podcast: What is Tua’s Future in Miami if they Don’t Trade for Watson?
I think the compensation is set. Don’t be surprised it is this year’s # 1 and the two number 1’s next year, and X Howard, to get rid of that salary and use it to pay Watson, when his price goes up next year. That’s the package, watch. However, that means nothing unless Watson settles these claims. My guess is he won’t, it is being reported that he will not do this because it is an admission of guilt. Bet he probably could by offering $500k each X 22 or $11M, pay off his lawyer and be done with it. Basically use what the Texans are paying him to not play this year and pay off the lawsuits. He won’t do this, so he won’t have “legal issues cleared” as Ross wants, so therefore, this should all be put to bed and let all things be Tua. Full support and let him play and show all he can be good. Get the glass brothers back on the field – Parker, Fuller, Williams. Tua has been adequate the last two weeks as protection and running game have improved… duh… that’s what every QB needs. The defense has taken huge steps backwards. Team could be 4-3 by now. Let Tua stay, play, and Phins try to develop the guys they have. Dump Grier and maybe win 5 more games (Jets 2x, Giants, Texans, Panthers), go 6-11 and retool next year with a real GM running the next draft and free agency. Watson is not saving this team. He is not even saving his own butt.
Agree with most everyone. I’m a die-hard dolphin fan for 50 years. I’ve never been so disgusted with the team and how they’re treating this great young man. Who I believe has a ton of potential. For God’s sake give the guy a chance.
If we trade for serial groper Watson…..I’m done with this franchise! Ross preaches the moral high ground unless it’s for a QB. What a joke of an owner and organization. 22 woman 10 criminal complaints but hey he has a career record of 28-26 AWESOME
PHINS SUCK
Fan since 1970. As embarrassing situation as I’ve ever seen. That includes Joe Philbin, Cam Cameron, Randy Mueller, Rick Spielman, Mike Tannenbaum, etc. Just a complete cluster fuck from top to bottom
Die hard Dolphin fan since 1970. This is the most ridiculous situation I have seen. Tua will be a great quarterback, hopefully the fins take Watson, he will not be able to play and Tua stars for another team. So much for a player with high morals compared to a low life. This goes through I am done with these guys. I grew up watching Csonka, Griese, Kiick, Buoniconti and THE coach Don Shula. Later Marino and the Marks brothers. My favorite team now will be whoever is playing against the fins and whatever team Tua is on. Keep your head up Tua, not your fault you got stuck with such a loser franchise.
The problem isn’t with Tua it’s the system it doesn’t matter who’s under center no line and no offensive strategy or philosophy everything is black and white they’re not creating opportunities for the QB to succeed and I personally think the defense is intentionally laying down this time is to talented
