The Miami Dolphins look to get back to winning ways tomorrow as they travel to New Jersey to take on the New York Jets.

The Tua situation left a sour taste in people’s mouths against the Cincinnati Bengals on Thursday Night Football. Teddy Bridgewater will play at least in this game. Can he bring the Dolphins back to winning ways in Week Five?

Can Teddy Perform In A Dolphins Jersey?

This is not just a backup quarterback coming in for a starter. It is also a right-handed QB coming in for a left-hander. This is harder than many realize.

Teddy also looked much worse than Tua did when he came into the game. Even against the Jets, he cannot afford to play below par.

Tyreek Hill’s questionable status also removes that X-Factor from the offense. Jaylen Waddle is also questionable, whereas Cedrick Wilson is down as not listed, which leads to the question of who will be the number-one receiver. Tight end Mike Gesicki could use this as a chance to show his worth whilst on the franchise tag.

So far this season, he has just 71 receiving yards and one touchdown. However, he has only been targeted ten times. When he has been targeted, he has performed well with 8.9 yards per reception. His one touchdown was an impressive catch that helped the Dolphins on their way to that brilliant comeback win against the Baltimore Ravens in Week Two.

This is a team that has one of the best passing yards totals this season (1,167). However, these questionable statuses have caused room for concern.

Miami ranks fourth from the bottom in rushing yards, with the Jets fifth from the bottom. Raheem Mostert appears to be the lead back but Chase Edmonds got the Dolphins’ only touchdown in the Bengals’ loss. They need to get this going if they are to become a complete offense.

Bridgewater has been on far too many teams over the past few seasons. He will hope that his time as the starter will help him get a gig as the QB1 whether it’s the Dolphins if Tua has to retire early, as a doctor suggested publicly, or another team.

Can The Dolphins Pass Defense Finally Perform In 2022?

The Dolphins pass defense currently ranks second to last, with a total of 1,197 yards given up in four games. The run defense has been better, a polar opposite to recent years, ranking tenth.

They have made some crucial stops, notably stopping the run against the Ravens and that crucial stop on a Baltimore fourth down. They also managed to stop the Buffalo Bills twice in the red zone toward the end of the game.

They will need to be at their best, even against a 2-2 Jets. This season they are eighth in total yards per game on offense (364.5) and are sixth in total passing yards (1,108). They will need to do their best to stop a team who now has their QB1 back. With Xavien Howard also questionable, this also gives the team concerns going into the games, despite an extra two to three days’ rest.

Game Prediction

Despite the uncertainty at QB and concerns if Hill will play, the Dolphins still have the players to make it happen. It would be less close if Tua, Waddle, and Hill all played but they should still have enough.

Prediction: Dolphins 20-10
