It wasn’t pretty; it was downright ugly on offense from the 2nd quarter on, but the Dolphins came through and got a big win to go to 4-3 on the season.

A loss tonight would have been damaging in many ways and may have been one they couldn’t have come back from, but the defense played lights out again for the 2nd week in a row and carried this team to a win.

In the first quarter, it was all offense, Tua/Hill/Waddle was clicking, Mostert had some very nice plays as well, and the Steelers’ defense had no answer for it. The Steelers made adjustments, though, and from the 2nd quarter on, they shut down the Dolphins’ offense.

Poor clock management by Mike McDaniel, poor decisions, and passes by Tua in the last three quarters hampered the Dolphins’ offense. There were also dropped passes and a couple of penalties on the offensive line. It wasn’t pretty, but in this league, you never apologize for a win, and Miami is now 4-3.

The storylines heading into this game wrote themselves. Flores returned to Hard Rock Stadium against the team that fired him, and he sued. Minkah Fitzpatrick, a first-round pick by the Dolphins and begged to get out of town early in his 2nd year, also returned to Miami for the first time. But it was Noah Igbinoghene, YES, Noah Igbinoghene, who made the game’s biggest play. Noah, who was pretty much inactive each game during Flores’s tenure with the Dolphins, makes the game-winning play to seal the victory.

At 4-3, Miami now goes on the road to face two NFC North teams; the Lions and the Bears. Both teams have putrid offenses, and Miami’s defense should continue its good play. The worry is can this Miami offense get back to the form it was playing in Weeks one through three?

That is the million-dollar question that we will all watch to see.

Dan Campbell and the Lions are up next and if the Dolphins can fix their issues on offense they could go on a bit of a run here as the schedule doesn’t look too daunting the next month.
