Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network is reporting the Dolphins have requested permission to interview Saints co-Defensive Coordinator and defensive backs coach Kris Richard to be their open defensive coordinator position. Richard was a finalist for the Dolphins head coaching position back in 2019.

Richard is 43 years old and been a coach in the NFL since 2010. He was the defensive coordinator for Seattle between 2015-2017, and in 2015 Seattle’s defense ranked 1st in points allowed, 3rd in points allowed 2016, and 13th in 2017. After the 2017 season Richard was let go by Seattle. Richard is known as the key guy in developing the “LEGION OF BOOM” in Seattle. He then went on to Dallas as their defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator. Dallas let him go after head coach Jason Garrett was fired. In 2021 he moved to New Orleans as their defensive backs coach and in 2022 he was named the secondary coach as well as being the co-defensive coordinator.

It was reported by Rapoport that Miami is interviewing Vic Fangio and Sean Desai on Wednesday for their vacant defensive coordinator position.
