“An idiom that means to correct a dangerous or bad situation.”

Literally and Figuratively.

Fresh off South Florida dodging Hurricane Milton, our Miami Dolphins are almost out of their own storm, “Concussed Tua.”

Pretty sure the WMO (World Meteorological Organization) hasn’t used that one yet but it’s dominated air waves, social media, and water cooler talk since Thursday, September 12th when “Concussed Tua” formed at the hands of Damar Hamlin and the Buffalo Bills.

Thankfully, this particular storm didn’t lead to any shortages of electricity, gas, water, or toilet paper.

Fast-forward a month, and we are almost out of the eye of the storm, with a .500 record at 3-3.

Almost.

If we can only win one more on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

It hasn’t been pretty by any means this past month.

Not the loss against Seattle, which saw Skylar Thompson get hurt and necessitated the need to sign Tyler Huntley off of Baltimore’s Practice Squad.

It probably would’ve been prudent to start the season instead of signing Tim Boyle, but that’s a topic for another day. We don’t have the time right now to get into all the things Chris Grier could have done to build a better Roster, so I digress.

We are focused on the storm.

Not the loss against Tennessee, which saw Tyler Huntley doing his best to take the helm but alas, it was too little time to prepare.

Like waiting too long to pump gas or buy your essentials, sometimes there isn’t enough time to prepare adequately.

However, I will say that despite the loss against Tennessee, this is where, in fact, our rudders commenced to change course, and the worst of the storm started to be behind us.  It may not have felt like it at the time, but sometimes, the biggest step is just the first step in a different direction.

Not the win against New England, but a win is a win.  Especially, going into a BYE Week.

Can you imagine the angst if we had just spent the past week dwelling over a loss against New England with a 1-4 record?

Reminder:  It can always be worse.

Clearly, we aren’t shooting for style points but we are just one week away from righting this ship in a way that will propel us forward for the rest of the season.

With Tua back to potentially Captain us in just a week against Arizona, there is renewed optimism abound that the worst is behind us and the best is ahead.

Just don’t check the forecast; storm season doesn’t officially ever end for Dolfans.
