Mock Trade from ESPN has Dolphins Moving up in 1st Round
One mock trade proposed by ESPN’s Bill Barnwell has the Miami Dolphins dealing a promising young linebacker along with the No. 30 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft to move up in the first round.
Specifically, Barnwell outlined a deal that would have the Dolphins move their pick late in the first round and second-year man Chop Robinson to the Baltimore Ravens in return for the No. 14 overall pick.
The logic for Miami pulling the trigger on such a move is obvious for two reasons. One, it might be in the team’s best interest to move Robinson now while he still has some trade value. He’s on the heels of a rough 2025 season after finishing in the top five for the NFL’s AP Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2024. After all, he ended his sophomore season with just four sacks.
Not only that, but the move would position the Dolphins with two of the top 14 picks in this month’s draft, as they have the No. 11 pick as well. The Dolphins could really benefit from owning multiple top picks, considering they could use them to fill some of the holes they have at several positions.
If the Dolphins pulled off the move in question with the Ravens, they would be in an unprecedented position in modern franchise history with the capital they would have at the top of the draft.
To find the last time Miami had multiple of the opening 14 picks in any draft, one has to travel all the way back to the 1992 NFL Draft, when the team selected defensive back Troy Vincent at No. 7 and defensive end Marco Coleman at No. 12.
That was over 30 years ago now. Time will tell if the Dolphins will find themselves in a similarly enviable position when the 2026 NFL Draft kicks off on April 23.
