One Analyst Thinks the Dolphins will Use at Least One Top Pick on WR

Across the first three rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Miami Dolphins own a whopping seven draft picks. One league analyst believes that Miami will use at least one of those picks to draft a player at a real position of need right now: wide receiver.

While Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer didn’t mention a wideout prospect by name that the Dolphins are honed in on, he thinks they will draft a “receiver or two” in the top half of the draft.

“I think they will get a receiver or two within the first three rounds of the draft, but again, not any particular name I would look at,” Breer said (h/t Heavy’s Eduardo Razo for transcription).

Miami just recently hosted two prospects at the wide receiver position — Denzel Boston and Makai Lemon — for Top 30 visits with this month’s draft looming. Boston and Lemon are projected first-round picks and players the team should seriously consider drafting as Jaylen Waddle replacements.

The Dolphins have the capital to potentially draft both in the opening round if they really wanted to for whatever reason. Lemon is predicted to go in the top 15, while Boston is seen as a late-first round pick, and the Dolphins just so happen to own the No. 11 overall and No. 30 overall picks.

It’s unlikely they use both firsts on wideouts of course, but they should consider using one of them on a receiver. If they do take a receiver at either No. 11 overall or No. 30 overall, it would mark the first time they’ve picked a receiver in the opening round since Waddle earlier this decade. Waddle went No. 6 overall in 2021.

A lot of Dolphins fans are hoping that the team’s receiver corps will be looking majorly upgraded after the 2026 NFL Draft, and if Breer’s comments are of any indication, that might go on to be the case. Hopefully, the departures of Waddle, along with star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, won’t leave a glaring hole at the position for all too much longer.
