Dolphins Among Teams that Reached Out to Stefon Diggs Before Commanders Signing
Star wide receiver Stefon Diggs is switching teams again, this time from the New England Patriots to the Washington Commanders. Probably the best wideout that was left on the market is on track to sign a one-year deal that could pay him up to $12 million, but several other teams were interested in Diggs before he committed to Washington, among them being the Miami Dolphins.
Per NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Kansas City Chiefs and Las Vegas Raiders also reached out to Diggs along with Miami.

There’s no denying Diggs’ talent, as his receiving numbers over the last five years stack up with almost any of his NFL colleagues. He’s put up four 1,000-plus receiving yard seasons in the last five years and is fresh off a 1,013-yard campaign for the reigning AFC champions in 2025.
On a Dolphins receiver corps that has more questions than answers, Diggs would likely have been the WR1 and Malik Willis’ favorite target. He also, by all accounts, would’ve been a valuable locker-room presence for the rookie wide receivers, Caleb Douglas and Kevin Coleman Jr.
But for as effective as he’s been in recent years, the Dolphins probably made the right decision to pass on Diggs. After all, he was just a few months ago mired in off-the-field issues.
In February, he pled not guilty to a felony strangulation charge as well as a misdemeanor assault and battery charge related to his personal chef. He was later found not guilty in May, but the NFL conducted an investigation into his conduct and didn’t close the review until June, weeks after he was found not guilty.
Someone with his recent history doesn’t stick out as a hand-in-glove fit for this new regime under Jeff Hafley and Jon-Eric Sullivan. The Dolphins are trying to build their next Super Bowl contending team by acquiring talented but also young, high-character guys, and Diggs doesn’t fit that bill.
