Miami Dolphins Must Learn These Lessons Before Week 1

Miami Dolphins Must Learn These Lessons Before Week 1

The pre-season game against the New York Giants might be a preview of what is to come for the Dolphins in 2026.

On Saturday, Miami was not very competitive as it played most of its backups, and the game quickly turned into a blowout.

Miami fans should get used to games like that during the regular season as well.

Again, on Saturday, Jeff Hafley and co. chose to play many backups, and it showed in the results as regular starters like De’Von Achane, Zach Sieler, Malik Willis, and Jordyn Brooks were forced to watch from the sidelines.

With guys like that on the field instead of the sidelines, Miami should be more competitive in most games, especially against teams with similar talent like the Raiders and the New York Jets.

However, against teams loaded with veteran talent like the Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, Chicago Bears, San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, and Green Bay Packers, things could get ugly, as they did on Saturday night.

And that should not be much of a surprise.

With so many young players, including 13 rookies, they could surprise some teams.

But in some other games, as such a young team, they will prove no match for their opposition.

Still, this season is about more than just wins and losses.

Instead, fans should judge this season on how much progress both the team and individual players make throughout the season.

You can also see the same progress hopefully with Hafley.

Yes, just like in 2019, there will be some blowouts.

There will be some games where you will want to turn off the TV because the product on the field is so hard to watch.

Admittedly, it was hard to watch the pre-season game on Saturday.

But I will still be there every Sunday, watching this team for every minute of every game.

Why will I subject myself to some tough games?

Because I know this season is more than just about one game or a stretch of games.

This season should set the stage for the franchise’s future.

So yes, there will be some very tough pills to swallow.

But hopefully it will be all worth it when the team learns from those blowout wins and uses them as motivation for success in seasons to come.
