Greg Dulcich Puts Together Breakout Performance for Dolphins
Although the Miami Dolphins lost to the Kansas City Chiefs by two scores on Sunday, there were still several positive takeaways from their performance. One of them was the play of tight end Greg Dulcich, who, after a quiet first two games of the season, delivered one of the best performances of his Dolphins career.
Against one of the teams to beat in the AFC, Dulcich finished with 55 receiving yards on five receptions, good for an impressive 11 yards per reception. That marks the second-most receiving yards he’s accumulated in a single game since joining the Dolphins, after 58 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last season.
Most of Dulcich’s yards on Sunday came on one play, and it mattered. In the third quarter and with the Dolphins still within striking distance, he made an impressive 42-yard reception that keyed a scoring drive for Miami. Because of his terrific play, the Dolphins scored a field goal on that drive and cut the score to an even more manageable 14-10.
Dulcich might not have had the great game if not for an injury to a key offensive player. Running back De’Von Achane devastatingly went down with a torn ACL in the first quarter, and his absence shifted more attention to the remaining, healthy skill players.
But Dulcich’s 55-yard performance could mark a turning point for the tight end in a struggling Dolphins offensive attack. It was a personal milestone for him and could also signal a shift in Miami’s blueprint on that side of the ball. The burning question now is: Was Week 3 a one-off showing for Dulcich, or the start of a larger role? Only time will tell.
