{"id":56482,"date":"2023-10-15T21:20:56","date_gmt":"2023-10-16T01:20:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dolphinstalk.com\/?p=56482"},"modified":"2023-10-15T21:20:56","modified_gmt":"2023-10-16T01:20:56","slug":"fins-42-panthers-21-the-good-the-bad-and-the-ugly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dolphinstalk.com\/2023\/10\/fins-42-panthers-21-the-good-the-bad-and-the-ugly\/","title":{"rendered":"Dolphins 42 Panthers 21: The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Dolphins completed their back-to-back home creampuff schedule by handily beating the Carolina Panthers 42-21.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/dolphinstalk.com\/2023\/10\/dolphins-offense-is-too-much-for-carolina-in-42-21-win\/\">After sleepwalking through the first quarter trailing 14-0,<\/a> they woke up on both sides of the ball and outscored the Panthers 42-7 the rest of the way.\u00a0 As a result, many \u201cGoods\u201d are on this week\u2019s GBU list.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE GOOD<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Raheem Mostert. All he did was carry 17 times for 115 yards (6.8 average) catch 3 balls for 17 yards, score 3 TDs, and hurdled a Panther defender like the track star he once was.\u00a0 Oh, and he had no fumbles this week!\u00a0 I believe he moves to the top of the NFL for career rushing yards per carry.\u00a0 Given the absence of rookie sensation De\u2019Von Achane, the Fins depend on Mostert now more than ever.<\/li>\n<li>Defensive Front (repeat from last week). Four more sacks and some good pressure on Bryce Young. Christian Wilkens had 2 of them, Bradley Chubb chipped in with 1, and underrated Zach Sieler had 1.<\/li>\n<li>Tyreek Hill (repeat from last week). Last week, he had 181 receiving yards on 8 receptions (22.6 average). This week Tyreek had 6 catches for 163 yards for a whopping 27.2 average and a long TD.<\/li>\n<li>Tua (repeat from last week). He had another steady game. 21-31-262 with 3 TDs and most importantly, no interceptions. No \u201cBad\u201d List for Tua this week.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/dolphinstalk.com\/2023\/10\/post-game-wrap-up-show-miami-continues-winning-ways-beating-carolina\/\">Offensive Line (repeat from last week). Zero sacks allowed, a 4.9 rushing average<\/a>, and no drive-stopping penalties.\u00a0 This might be the biggest surprise of the year.\u00a0 Eichenberg and Lamm played well playing for Williams and Armstead.\u00a0 They will be tested next week against a formidable Eagles Defensive Line.<\/li>\n<li>Offensive balance. In the last three second-half drives, the Fins ran the ball equal to or more than pass plays.\u00a0 Given the weekly success of the running game, it was nice to see Coach McDaniel balance the attack much earlier than last week.<\/li>\n<li>Danny Crossman. This won\u2019t happen often so I will give credit where credit is due.\u00a0 His special teams unit stopped a fake punt a yard short which the offense turned into a touchdown.\u00a0 Way to pay attention, Danny!\u00a0 Honorable mention to Jake Bailey who started the game with a 34-yard net punt but all-in-all, averaged 48.5 gross and 43.3 net.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><iframe id=\"embedPlayer\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 660px; overflow: hidden; border-radius: 10px; transform: translateZ(0px); animation: 2s ease 0s 6 normal none running loading-indicator; background-color: #e4e4e4;\" src=\"https:\/\/embed.podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/dolphinstalk-com-daily-podcast\/id1289046573?itsct=podcast_box_player&amp;itscg=30200&amp;ls=1&amp;theme=dark\" height=\"450px\" frameborder=\"0\" sandbox=\"allow-forms allow-popups allow-same-origin allow-scripts allow-top-navigation-by-user-activation\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>THE BAD<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Chris Brooks\u2019 injury. Man, I feel bad for him.\u00a0 After breaking about 6 tackles on his way to a 28-yard run, he was injured a short time after and had to be carted off with a knee injury.\u00a0 Let\u2019s hope it\u2019s only a short-term injury.<\/li>\n<li>I\u2019m moving <a href=\"https:\/\/pro-football-history.com\/coach\/1167\/vic-fangio-bio\">Vic Fangio<\/a> up a notch this week to \u201cBad.\u201d He was headed for another \u201cUgly\u201d after the first quarter, but the defense locked it down for the second half.\u00a0 Granted, we are talking about a 0-6 team with a rookie quarterback so one would expect a solid defensive performance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-56485\" src=\"https:\/\/dolphinstalk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Mostert39.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/dolphinstalk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Mostert39.jpg 600w, https:\/\/dolphinstalk.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/10\/Mostert39-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>THE UGLY<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Eli Apple and Kader Kohou have held this slot for a while now. This week, the honor goes to Apple.\u00a0 I think Adam Thielen just caught another ball over the middle.\u00a0 Thielen had 8 catches for 100 yards in the first half and was held to just 3 catches for 15 in the second half.\u00a0 Eli Apple was primarily the victim.\u00a0 It\u2019s clear he cannot cover and has poor technique.\u00a0 Let\u2019s hope Nik Needham can play next week or it could be big trouble with AJ Brown on the other side.<\/li>\n<li>Mike White.
