The Miami Dolphins and Dolphins Cancer Challenge (DCC) in support of the NFL’s Crucial Catch campaign at today’s game vs the Washington Redskins announced that DCC IX raised $5,237,879 for innovative caner research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, a part of UHealth- the University of Miami Health System. This total now brings the event’s nine-year amount to more than $32.5M.

At halftime I had the opportunity to speak with Dr. Nimer who is leading up the research at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and see the video below to see what he had to say about all of the advancements they are making in helping cure people of cancer.

To celebrate the event and the $5.2 million gift from DCC IX, the Dolphins held a halftime presentation to honor the journey of cancer survivors treated at Sylvester. On top of that the doctors who treated the cancer survivors as well as all 300 cancer survivors who participated in last year’s event were invited to the game and were celebrated on the field at the halftime ceremony.

Since the Miami Dolphins started the DCC they have raised more than $32.5 million in which they have donated 100% of the participant raised funds to Sylvester.

DCC 10 is scheduled to take place on February 29, 2020 and will have five bike routes throughout South Florida, a run/walk 5K and finish line festival presented by Moss Construction.
