With the 81st pick overall in round 3 the Dolphins select Boston College tight end, Hunter Long. The Dolphins have a very deep tight end room so this selection is a bit of a head-scratcher. Mike Gesicki is in a contract year and there is a chance (although unlikely) he won’t be back after this upcoming season. Durham Smythe is more of a blocker than a receiver while Long is a better well-rounded all-around tight end. Long should find a home in the Dolphins tight end room this upcoming season and I would guess either Adam Shaheen or Durham Smythe will be let go. Long has a nice skill set and the fact he went to the same college as Brian Flores doesn’t hurt. This is just another piece to help Tua and improve the Dolphins offense overall.
